Elena Kim, Ph.D., LMFT

I am a psychotherapist who sees men, women, and couples struggling with depression, anxiety, and relationship issues.

I have a passion for what I do because I believe the very act of someone listening to what you are suffering with can be healing. Emotional wounds do not discriminate, and no one lives life scot-free. Every day, I see men and women explore their emotions, gain insights, and grow closer in their relationships. My extensive training and personal experience in therapy have taught me so much that I want to share with you what I’ve learned to help you not make the same mistakes I did and to repair your relationship pain faster.

In my work with you, you can expect no blaming or shaming. I will help you make sense of your emotions and learn concrete tools that you can use right away. I utilize family systems theory, psychodynamic therapy, and emotionally focused therapy to transform feelings of shame and grief into self-compassion and resiliency.

I see my role as a therapist to be a compassionate witness as you navigate through life’s transitions and challenges. I feel privileged to hear my patients’ stories of struggle and hardship because usually, in them, there are also stories of courage and strength. I am naturally very curious, so I ask a lot of questions to really understand my patients’ emotional experiences and worldviews. If you’re looking for a therapist who’s interactive and completely engaged, give me a call to see if I am a good fit for you.

I have made Atlanta, GA my home after receiving my Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Purdue University in Indiana. I have received specialized training in Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples and families. I conduct therapy in both English and Korean and am also available to provide interpretation services. I accept several different insurance plans.
